Chennai: It was a day for teachers at MCC Higher Secondary School in Chetpet, where Zero Investment Innovations for Education Initiatives (ZIIEI), a teacher outreach initiative by Sri Aurobindo Society, conducted its annual felicitation ceremony, recently.
Sources said, 523 teachers, including Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) coordinators, were presented with ‘Innovative Teacher’ awards, for their contributions in making learning a joyful experience for children.
Science teachers of various schools across Tamilnadu, took part in the event, that was presided over by School Education Minister Sengottaiyan. He distributed the awards too.
Speaking to News Today, the personal assistant to the Chief Education Officer, said, “The function was coordinated by the staff of the Chief Education Office at Egmore, in collaboration with principals and teachers of all schools across Tamilnadu.”
Earlier addressing the gathering, Sengottaiyan said, “The role played by teachers help mould the character of the student, in addition to boosting their morale and bringing out their potential and talent. The State has good teachers who discharge their duties efficiently.”
The event was attended by several officials, including Pradeep Yadav, Secretary, School Education Department and Kannappan, Director of School Education Department.
