Chief Minister MK Stalin today constituted a panel to study on the ill-effects of online rummy in the State. An urgent legislation to ban online rummy would be enacted based on its recommendations.

An official press release here said, ‘Following a meeting held recently headed by the Chief Minister to discuss on online rummy and how it lured money from public leading to rampant suicides, the decision to appoint a committee was taken up’.

The panel will study on financial losses, suicides of those who lost their money and its psychological and emotional impact on society.

The committee will be headed by Justice Chandru. IT expert from IIT (M) DR Sankarraman, founder of the NGO Sneha and noted psychologist Dr Lakshmi Vijayakumar, and ADGP Vineeth Dev Wankhade are other members of the panel. They are expected to submit their report within two weeks.
