Coimbatore: The Tamilnadu police yesterday arrested a man who allegedly threatened to blast the Mettur Dam.
The 40-year old Kumaravel was arrested in Udumalpet near Tirupur district on yesterday after the Udumalpet police were given an alert from Chennai.
The Police control room in Chennai received a phone call past midnight on Monday stating that an explosion will occur at the dam if Tamilnadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami released water from the reservoir as scheduled.
The CM released water from the dam yesterday morning for irrigation in the Delta districts of the state.
