Madurai, Jan 17: Congress MP Manickam Tagore has clarified that his visit to New Delhi is not for personal reasons, but to voice the concerns of his party workers and address national opposition leadership on key issues, according to a social media post he shared on Saturday morning.
Tagore, who represents Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency, left Madurai early today and posted on social media that his journey to the national capital is driven by a desire to represent the sentiments of Congress supporters and protect the party’s movement. In his brief message, the senior leader said he intends to share Congress workers’ feelings with the All India Congress leadership and with leaders of the wider opposition bloc in order to defend democratic rights and ensure that people’s voice is heard.
In his post, Tagore emphasised that his trip is aimed at speaking up for rights and principles, not advancing any personal agenda. He also stressed the importance of safeguarding the party’s mission and strengthening its position within the broader opposition ahead of the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections.
