Actor-turned-politician Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is scheduled to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi today in connection with the Karur stampede case that killed 41 people during a TVK rally on September 27, 2025.
The CBI issued a summons under Section 179 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita earlier this month, naming Vijay as a witness in the investigation. He is expected to take a chartered flight from Chennai to Delhi and present himself to the central agency for questioning.
Ahead of his visit, TVK has requested security arrangements from the Delhi Police given the high-profile nature of the case. The investigation by the CBI, ordered by the Supreme Court, has already included questioning of senior party leaders and inspection of the campaign vehicle used at the Karur event.
