With the 2026 Assembly elections fast approaching and political momentum accelerating across Tamil Nadu, the Principal Opposition AIADMK has convened a crucial district secretaries’ meeting on December 31 at its headquarters in Chennai. The meeting will be chaired by party General Secretary and Opposition Leader Edappadi K Palaniswami. All district secretaries have been directed to attend without fail as the party prepares to finalise strategic political and organisational decisions. The meeting is expected to focus heavily on seat-sharing discussions within the NDA bloc, strengthening booth-level structures, expansion of alliance partners, and intensifying poll outreach campaigns.
Sources said the meeting gains significance in the backdrop of senior BJP leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal recently holding discussions with EPS over alliance coordination and seat strategy. AIADMK has also formed a 9-member manifesto committee, signalling its determination to mount a strong challenge to the ruling DMK.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK is also attempting to consolidate alliances and counter internal setbacks caused by defections and leadership disputes among former partners like PMK and AMMK. With DMK aggressively preparing to retain power, claiming confidence of winning over 200 seats, AIADMK is working to rebuild a formidable front to take on the ruling bloc.
Political observers say this meeting will set the tone for AIADMK’s campaign blueprint in the coming months.
