Stalin Says Tamil Nadu Won’t Accept Punishment for Its Progress

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly opposed the central government’s plan to redraw parliamentary boundaries through delimitation. He said Tamil Nadu should not be punished for controlling its population and making progress.
Stalin accused the BJP-led central government of trying to reduce the political power of southern states. He said states like Tamil Nadu had followed family planning rules, while others had not. Now, those states might get more seats in Parliament, which is unfair.
“This is not right,” said Stalin. “Why should we lose for doing the right thing?”
He asked the central government to promise, in Parliament, that southern states won’t be affected. He also said a constitutional change is needed to protect fairness.
Stalin also criticized the AIADMK for supporting the BJP. He said they were putting party politics above Tamil Nadu’s interests.
