In a significant political development that sparked speculation across Tamil Nadu’s political circles, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder Dr. S. Ramadoss has finally broken his silence regarding the recent high-profile meeting between PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss and chartered accountant-turned-political influencer Auditor S. Gurumurthy.
The meeting took place at Ramadoss’s residence in Thailapuram, where Gurumurthy reportedly arrived with a team of RSS members. This led to intense political speculation, especially considering Gurumurthy’s perceived closeness to top BJP leadership and his known role in shaping right-wing political narratives in Tamil Nadu. The timing of the meeting — just as parties are recalibrating their strategies for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections — only added fuel to the fire.
Dr. Ramadoss, responding to mounting media interest and rumours of an impending PMK-BJP alliance, stated, “Auditor Gurumurthy is someone who meets us from time to time. His visit to our home is not new and should not be interpreted as a political signal.” He added that there was no hidden agenda or alliance discussion during the meeting and dismissed the notion that a BJP-PMK alliance is being forged behind the scenes.
However, political observers see the meeting as more than just a courtesy call. Anbumani Ramadoss’s increasing public engagements, coupled with PMK’s visible efforts to reassert its relevance in Tamil Nadu politics, have kept speculation alive that the party may realign with the BJP-led NDA — especially after PMK sat out of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections without a formal alliance.
Auditor Gurumurthy’s presence at the meeting is viewed as politically significant. As a key figure behind the Swadeshi Jagran Manch and a confidant of the Sangh Parivar, Gurumurthy is often seen as a backchannel strategist for BJP’s outreach in Tamil Nadu. His role in nudging alliances and strengthening ideological ties makes any meeting he has with regional leaders noteworthy.
While Dr. Ramadoss’s clarification attempts to defuse the alliance buzz, many believe this is only the beginning of realignments and strategic negotiations that will unfold in the coming months leading up to 2026. As Tamil Nadu’s political landscape continues to shift, the PMK’s next move will be watched closely.
