DMDK treasurer LK Sudhish announced that party general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth will determine the party’s alliance stance ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters, he confirmed that the decision would be unveiled at a crucial party conference in Cuddalore on January 9.

Sudhish revealed that AIADMK had promised a Rajya Sabha seat to DMDK during the 2024 Lok Sabha poll talks, which influenced his decision not to contest.

On speculation around joining hands with Vijay’s TVK, he said personal ties wouldn’t dictate political decisions, adding that any alliance will be announced by the general secretary.
