
The murder of a prominent boxing champion in Chennai’s Triplicane area has sent shockwaves through the city.
Dhanush, a 24-year-old boxer from the Krishnaampettai locality in Thiruvallikkeni, was known for his achievements in the sport, representing Tamil Nadu in several boxing tournaments and winning numerous medals. He was the son of Rajesh and Radha, a local couple.
Dhanush had aspirations of joining the police force, and he had been preparing for the recruitment process. However, his dreams were shattered after a dispute with a group of youths near his home, which led to a police complaint being filed against him.
On the night of the incident, while Dhanush was standing with a friend near his house, a group of unknown assailants attacked him with machetes. They inflicted severe wounds on his neck and other parts of his body, leading to his immediate death at the scene. His friend Arun, who tried to intervene, was also injured in the attack, suffering a severe machete wound to his neck.
The Ice House police, upon receiving information, arrived at the scene and sent Dhanush’s body for post-mortem examination. Arun was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. In connection with the murder, the police have arrested nine individuals and are continuing their investigations.
The brutal murder of the young boxer has left the city in a state of shock and disbelief.
