Saira, the spouse of renowned musician AR Rahman, has announced her decision to part ways with her husband after nearly three decades of marriage. The announcement was made through a statement via her legal representative, Vandana Shah.

“After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband, Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time,” the statement read.

Saira highlighted that her decision was taken out of “pain and agony” and requested privacy and understanding from the public as she navigates this challenging phase of her life.

AR Rahman and Saira were married in 1995 and have three children—Raheema, Ameen, and Khatija.

On the professional front, AR Rahman remains active in the music industry. His recent work includes composing for Raayan, directed by Dhanush. His upcoming projects include Thug Life, Chhaava, and Gandhi Talks
