Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, took a jab at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s recent visit to the United States, calling it a mere “eye wash” that would not yield any significant benefits for the state.Speaking to the media during the launch of the BJP’s membership drive in Coonoor, Nilgiris, Murugan questioned the actual impact of Stalin’s foreign trips on Tamil Nadu’s investment portfolio. He remarked, “What was the outcome of his visits to Spain and Dubai? The companies that signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during these trips already had a presence in India. Stalin’s visits are not going to bring any new investment to Tamil Nadu.”
Murugan also took the opportunity to criticize the DMK government for its handling of spiritual leaders, condemning the state for arresting individuals who speak about spirituality. However, he refrained from providing further comments on the arrest of controversial speaker Mahavishnu.
On the topic of the New Education Policy (NEP), Murugan urged the Tamil Nadu government to adopt the policy, emphasizing that it aligns with evolving technological advancements.
Claiming that the BJP has a massive cadre base with over ten crore members, the minister stated that the ongoing membership drive aims to add an additional one crore members, bringing the total to 11 crore.
