PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss has accused the DMK government of deceiving teachers under the guise of negotiations. In light of demands such as the reinstatement of the old pension scheme and equal pay for equal work, the Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Elementary Education Teachers’ Associations (known as TITTOJAC) recently organized a one-day strike.
Dr. Ramadoss condemned the state government, stating that teachers have been protesting for over 15 years to press their demands, yet the government has merely promised talks without any genuine action, misleading the teachers.
While the central government has introduced an alternative Integrated Pension Scheme to replace the New Pension Scheme (NPS), the Tamil Nadu government has not even considered the demands to restore the old pension scheme. Ramadoss criticized this, stating, “The Tamil Nadu government’s disregard for the teachers and government employees is evident. They are being treated with utter contempt.”
Through this, Ramadoss voiced his disapproval of the state government’s approach, calling for fair treatment of teachers and action on their long-standing demands.
