BJP Tamil Nadu Secretary Ashwathaman has lodged a formal complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner, accusing DMK member Sai Lakshmikanth Bharathi of making inflammatory and defamatory statements on social media.
In his complaint, Ashwathaman stated that Sai Lakshmikanth Bharathi, the son of DMK leader R.S. Bharathi, had posted derogatory comments aimed at inciting hatred. Specifically, the post claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was responsible for the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat from participating in the final match.
Ashwathaman expressed his frustration, noting that despite repeated complaints against defamatory posts by DMK members on social media, no action has been taken by the authorities. He alleged that the police have been reluctant to accept complaints related to such matters.
“Due to the police’s reluctance, I personally visited the station to file a complaint against Sai Lakshmikanth Bharathi. After persistent efforts, the police finally accepted my complaint and provided a receipt. If the police fail to register a case and take action, I will take the matter to court,” Ashwathaman warned.
He also mentioned that Sai Lakshmikanth Bharathi, likely sensing the repercussions, has since deleted the controversial post.
