The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) is set to operate 70 additional bus services in Chennai’s southern suburbs from August 3 to 14 to assist passengers affected by the partial cancellation of train services due to maintenance work at Tambaram Railway Station.

According to an official statement, EMU train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram/Chengalpattu will only run up to Pallavaram during the maintenance period. Similarly, services from Chengalpattu to Chennai Beach will be limited to Guduvancherry.

In response, MTC will deploy 30 buses from Pallavaram Bus Terminus to Chengalpattu, 20 buses from Pallavaram to Guduvancherry, and 20 buses from Tambaram Bus Terminus to T. Nagar and Broadway. These additional buses aim to ease the commute for passengers during the affected hours.

To reduce traffic congestion near Tambaram, all MTC buses on the Guduvancherry route will temporarily stop at Hindu Mission Hospital until August 14, as per traffic police directives.
