Jerusalem/Beirut, July 30: Israeli drones struck a remote road in southern Lebanon, resulting in two deaths and three injuries. This action follows a rocket attack on the Golan Heights that killed 12 children, which Israeli officials attribute to Hezbollah. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised a “harsh” response, emphasizing that Hezbollah will “pay a price” for the attack. His visit to Majdal Shams, where the victims were mourned, was marked by local dissent and calls for accountability.

The escalation has prompted intense diplomatic efforts from the US and other international actors to prevent a larger conflict. John Kirby from the White House described fears of a broader war as “exaggerated,” but confirmed ongoing negotiations to de-escalate the situation. US officials have warned Israel against targeting areas like Beirut to avoid further spiraling violence.

Security analysts and international officials, including those from Germany, France, and Italy, have urged caution and advised their citizens to leave Lebanon amid growing concerns of an expanded conflict. The situation remains tense as both sides brace for possible further retaliation, with Hezbollah and Israeli forces engaging in a dangerous game of brinkmanship.
