Chennai City Police Commissioner Sandeep Rai Rathore announced on Friday that a high-level investigation is underway to address the frequent hoax bomb threats plaguing the city. Speaking at the inauguration of a renovated parking facility for the press and public at the city police commissioner’s office, Commissioner Rathore emphasized the coordinated efforts with international agencies to probe these incidents.

Commissioner Rathore assured that significant progress has been made in the investigation into the hoax threats. To better handle such situations, the police have issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to schools to guide them in responding to these threats.

“City police are coordinating with international agencies to probe the frequent instances of hoax bomb threats. We have made considerable progress in our investigation,” said Rathore.

The implementation of the SOP aims to ensure that schools are better prepared and can respond efficiently to any potential threats, thereby minimizing panic and disruption. The police commissioner’s comments underscore the seriousness with which the authorities are treating these threats and their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chennai’s residents.

This move comes amid a series of hoax bomb threats that have caused unnecessary alarm and disruption in the city. The police are determined to track down the culprits behind these threats and bring them to justice.
