Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) president GK Vasan launched a scathing attack on the DMK, accusing the Dravidian party of undermining Tamil Nadu’s interests both historically and in the present. Speaking to reporters in Thanjavur, Vasan alleged that the DMK had played a pivotal role in ceding Katchatheevu to Sri Lanka in the past and is now indirectly aiding Karnataka in constructing the Mekedatu dam, jeopardizing the rights of Tamils and Delta farmers.Highlighting the significance of the Cauvery dispute, Vasan emphasized that it not only impacts agricultural yields but also the livelihoods of Delta farmers. He criticized Karnataka for refusing to release water to Tamil Nadu during periods of water scarcity, contrary to natural laws. Vasan lambasted the DMK and Tamil Nadu Congress for remaining passive observers while the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka remain steadfast in their efforts to build the Mekedatu dam.
Turning his attention to the recently released election manifesto by the BJP, Vasan commended its comprehensive approach towards national development, particularly focusing on empowering women, children, and youth. Expressing confidence in the manifesto’s ability to alleviate poverty, Vasan endorsed the BJP’s vision for a powerful and prosperous India.
Furthermore, Vasan highlighted the unwavering support of the people of Tamil Nadu for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, predicting a resounding victory for the NDA alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the state.
