Chennai: A leopard was found injured near the famous Government Botanical Garden in the tourist spot of Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris district.

After being alerted by the locals, forest department officials rushed to the spot and took the leopard for treatment at a veterinary hospital.

Forest department officials said the leopard has suffered an injury in its rear leg and could not move.

The officials were trying to ascertain as to how it suffered the injury, whether it was hit by a speeding vehicle or it had a fall.
