Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today laid the foundation stone for the construction of government medical college in Tiruppur via video conferencing from the Secretariat.

A press release said the college will be constructed at a cost of 336.96 crore.
‘ The Central government will bear 60.percent of the cost and will contribute 195 crore. The  State government will bear 141.96 crore and Rs 100 crore was already sanctioned on 12 November 2019. The hospital which will also house a college which will have a capacity to admit 150 students,’ the release added.

Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Chief Secretary K Shanmugam and Health Secretary Beela Rajesh were also present during the laying of the foundation stone.
