Chennai: The Tamilnadu police department is looking for volunteers with previous work experience to join its force in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic.
People who have been earlier with Commando forces, military units or CISF or as Friends of Police and are now at home can join the Tamilnadu police to help them in various duties.
It may be noted that after some policemen were tested positive, the city Commissioner A K Viswanathan had asked police personnel aged above 50 to not report for duty. This has caused a shortage of manpower, it is said.
The volunteer call is for those who are aged between below 50. They can either apply at the City Commissioner’s office or at the nearest police station.
Some police stations already have roped in such volunteers. Virugambakkam police station has four volunteers aged between 35 to 37 who help policemen with vehicle checks.
