It was indeed a shocking news for thousands of job aspirants across the State. Tamilnadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) imposed a life ban on 99 candidates, 39 of whom made it to the top 100 list in the Group-IV results, from appearing in examinations conducted by it for indulging in malpractices.

After disqualifying candidates from the examination, the TNPSC has released a fresh rank list by bringing the next 39 into the list of first 100 rank holders.

The TNPSC took the extreme step after a CB-CID investigation found allegations of malpractices by candidates with the help of agents in two examination centres in Ramanathapuram district to be true. Interestingly, 39 of those in the top 100 list chose one particular centre to write examination.

Arrests have been made and FIRs are also filed. But this incident has certainly left others who took the examination after preparing hard in shock. Their confidence on TNPSC is shaken now. The need of the hour is thorough and impartial investigation. Whoever is involved in the scam should be brought to book. Only when the guilty are punished, the faith will be reinstated.

What is really shocking is the alleged of middlemen and candidates manipulating the exam using a special ink. How it was allowed in those centres should be brought to light.
