
Chennai: Nataka Semmal RS Manohar’s 95th birth anniversary was celebrated at Mylapore Fine Arts Club Hall on 29 June (Saturday).
On the occasion, ‘Kadaga Mutharaiyan’ play written by Madurai Thirumaran was inaugurated under the auspices of Kartik Fine Arts in association with Brahma Gana Sabha and Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha. The stage scene sets were designed by R S Manohar’s grand daughter S Sruuthi, a 12th Std student from PSBB.
According to a release, Sruuthi was awarded Kalai Ilamani award recently by the Tamilnadu government for her contribution to theatre at such a young age. and she has also started her own drama troupe titled ‘Kalai Ilamani S Sruuthi’s Naatya Naadha Nataka Sangamam’.
On the occasion, Kartik Fine Arts secretaries, Sekar Rajagopal and D S Rajagopalan honoured S Sruuthi with a ponnadai and a memento in appreciation of her contribution to theatre as the youngest stage play producer apart from being a stage artiste and stage scene set designer.
