Chennai: Kaal Nootraandu Kadhal, is a feel-good short film, written by Vignesh Kumar, also acting as the male lead. It is directed by Saran RV, who also cranks the camera and is produced by VV Entertainment. It traces the journey of a son played by Vignesh who wants to give the best ever gift to his parents during their 25th wedding anniversary, which is an undelivered love letter written by his father, an ex-army man in 1993 and posted from the world’s highest post office in Hikkim to his mother.
Without the knowledge of his parents, he decides to go all the way to Hikkim to look out for the letter and whether he is successful or not forms the rest of the story, which is conveyed in a gripping way. The film brings out the beautiful bonding between a son and his parents. Actor Gowtham Sundararajan as the father suits the role perfectly as a doting father and a caring husband. In one particular scene, he explains to his son that the undelivered letter means a lot to him, as it was the only love letter he has ever written and emotionally says “If I get it back it would be the best ever anniversary gift.”
Inspired by that Vignesh decides to go all the way to find the letter, Special mention to Vignesh Kumar who suits the role perfectly. As a young lad wanting to give the best ever present to his parents, he acts well showing all kind of emotions. Also, the entire crew has to be credited for taking efforts to go all the way to Hikkim to shoot for the film. Cinematographer RV Saran, who has worked in films like Oru Kidaayin Karunai Manu takes us on a tour around Spiti Valley, capturing the staggering beauty of the place.
Ashwin Vinayagamoorthy, the music director also deserves applause for the music. Especially the song “Thozhane,” which plays when Vignesh travels on a bike all the way from Manali to Hikkim by road, adds more beauty. With a simple yet different story, the team of Kaal Nootraandu Kaadhal has given a good film that leaves a long-lasting impact.
