Chennai: The city police arrested two youngsters for assaulting a policeman at Egmore.

According to sources, a team of policemen were on duty last night at L G Road, checking helmet-less riders.

Dayanidhi, a constable stopped a vehicle driven by Ramkumar (19) of Virugambakkam, a college student and pillion rider Vignesh, a mechanic for not wearing helmets.

However, the youngsters punched him on the face and fled the spot. Police subsequently caught them and Egmore police have registered a case.
