With Women’s Day around the corner, News Today meets up with resident activist G Padmapriya, who has been making a difference in the lives of many, through her Mind Tree Organisation.

Speaking about this, she says, “About a year back, I provided legal aid and small services for people in every possible way. Whenever I spoke about this to my friends, they told me that they would love to do it, but how can little donations ever make a difference.”

This made her realise that people had the desire to change the lives of others, but couldn’t, due to financial commitments.

Thus, Padmapriya started the Mind Tree Organisation. “In the beginning, I did counselling for teenage girls focusing on mental health. I then started a WhatsApp group, where I gathered a small team of volunteers who donated Rs 200 every month online. After collecting the money, I reached out to non-profit organisations like old age homes or orphanages and offered them the same,” she explains.

About some of the other initiatives, she notes, “We once invited children from an orphanage and celebrated Christmas with them at a park. Likewise, we went to an old age home for senior women citizens and gifted them clothing and accessories. It felt nice to make them smile.” “We can always make a difference even with little amounts,” she signs off.
