The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has invited Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to join its statewide protest on December 17 demanding a caste-based census in Tamil Nadu.The PMK has been pushing for a caste census for a long time and says it is necessary to plan fair welfare and reservation policies. Leaders from the PMK delivered a letter to TVK’s Panaiyur office, asking TVK and its leader Vijay to take part in the protest.
The PMK has invited all political parties except the ruling DMK to join the agitation at the Marina Beach in Chennai. The move has sparked talk in political circles about closer cooperation or a possible alliance between the PMK and TVK ahead of the 2026 state elections.
TVK leaders said they will consider the invitation and decide after internal consultation.
