PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday criticized the DMK government for its lack of efforts in developing the Tamil language in the state.Speaking to the media in Coimbatore, he pointed out that Tamil Nadu is the only state where students graduate without studying Tamil. He demanded that all private schools be taken over by the state government to ensure the language’s promotion.
Regarding the upcoming all-party meeting on constituency delimitation, scheduled for March 5, Anbumani confirmed PMK’s participation. He noted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Coimbatore, had assured that no parliamentary seats would be reduced in the southern states. However, he questioned why the government had not disclosed the number of seats that would be increased in each state.
Criticizing the DMK’s handling of law and order, Anbumani linked the rise in sexual assaults against girl children to rampant drug sales in Tamil Nadu. He accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of being a mere spectator to the worsening situation.
He also urged the state government to conduct a caste census, similar to those undertaken in other states, to ensure better policy-making and resource allocation.
