Uttar Pradesh ministers, Rathore and Aseem Arun, have extended an invitation to the people of Tamil Nadu to participate in the upcoming 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Speaking to the media in Chennai, the ministers highlighted the significance of the event, which takes place at the confluence of three rivers—the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati—at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.
Maha Kumbh Mela: A Global Gathering
Held every 12 years, the Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. The next Maha Kumbh Mela will be held from January 13 to February 26, 2025, lasting 45 days. The Uttar Pradesh government, along with the central government, has already begun making arrangements for the massive event.
In the 2019 Kumbh Mela, around 25 crore people attended. For the 2025 edition, it is expected that up to 45 crore people will participate.
To accommodate the large influx of visitors, the Prayagraj Airport has been upgraded to facilitate more flights. Additionally, 13,000 trains will be operational during the period, and nine new railway stations have been established. The government is also introducing 7,000 new buses to ensure smooth transportation for attendees.
In an effort to promote sustainability, steps have been taken to reduce the use of single-use plastic. Alternative products will be made available for sale to encourage eco-friendly practices during the event.
The ministers expressed their hope that a larger number of people from Tamil Nadu would attend the Maha Kumbh Mela. They mentioned that they have personally invited Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi to attend the event and have also sought an appointment with Chief Minister Stalin to encourage greater participation from the state.
The ministers emphasized the cultural and spiritual importance of the Maha Kumbh Mela, inviting people from across the country, including Tamil Nadu, to join in this grand event.
