In a recent statement, former AIADMK minister Udayakumar strongly criticized Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai, accusing him of spreading falsehoods and engaging in baseless allegations against AIADMK leaders, particularly former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.Udayakumar referred to Annamalai’s claim that Prime Minister Modi had invited Palaniswami to file a nomination during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but Palaniswami allegedly refused. Udayakumar dismissed this as a “filtered lie” propagated by Annamalai, and suggested that Annamalai was merely echoing old, unfounded accusations that had been previously circulated by DMK members.
Udayakumar also took aim at Annamalai’s earlier promise not to burden the BJP with his personal expenses, claiming that Annamalai had stated he would cover his family expenses, house rent, fuel for his car, and salaries for his assistants and security guards through contributions from friends. Udayakumar challenged Annamalai to list the names of these friends. He questioned the status of the much-publicized “DMK Files” that Annamalai had released and highlighted the mysterious silence surrounding investigations into various allegations, including the Rs. 30,000 crore charge Annamalai made against a minister.
Udayakumar criticized Annamalai for predicting that AIADMK would not even secure fourth place in the 2026 assembly elections. He retorted that it is the people who will decide the AIADMK’s fate and reminded Annamalai of his earlier prophecy that the party would fall into another’s hands before the Lok Sabha elections.
Udayakumar did not hold back in his personal criticism, likening Annamalai to an “octopus” with poisonous rhetoric and stating that Annamalai seemed mentally disturbed. He suggested that Annamalai might need to consult a psychiatrist. He further compared Annamalai to a parasite, claiming that just as certain insects can consume eight times their weight in blood, Annamalai is similarly draining the energy of others without contributing any effort of his own.
Udayakumar’s statement reflects the deepening rift between the AIADMK and BJP in Tamil Nadu, as both parties navigate a complicated political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
