During an event in Nagapattinam, where 1,600 people from various political parties joined the DMK, the party’s organizing secretary, R.S. Bharathi, made strong remarks about the emergence of new political parties in Tamil Nadu.Bharathi began by referencing a recent opinion poll, which indicated that Chief Minister Stalin enjoys a 71% approval rating among the public. He highlighted that 54% of respondents expressed full satisfaction, while 17% were somewhat satisfied. Only 29% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, but Bharathi clarified that this discontent was directed not at the Chief Minister, but at certain party officials. He emphasized that if the party could address this 29% dissatisfaction, the DMK would be unstoppable by any competitor.
Bharathi took a dig at newly formed political parties in the state, stating, “The new party won’t last beyond a new moon day.” He likened the situation to a cat imitating a tiger, suggesting that these new parties are merely imitations of existing ones. Bharathi also remarked that not everyone who starts a new party can become MGR, alluding to the legendary actor and politician who successfully broke away from the DMK to form the AIADMK. However, he pointed out that even the rivalry between the DMK and AIADMK was more like a quarrel between siblings.
He criticized those who believe they can establish a new party today and become the Chief Minister tomorrow, stating that young people who initially flock to such parties often return once they realize the futility of their efforts.
Bharathi’s remarks underscore the DMK’s confidence in its dominance in Tamil Nadu politics, while casting doubt on the viability of new political ventures in the state.
Remember actor Vijay has officially launched a new political party named TVK (Thalapathy Vijay Kazhagam) and introduced the party’s flag. During the announcement, Vijay expressed his intention to contest the Tamil Nadu state elections in 2026, confidently stating that he plans to win. This move has been highly anticipated given Vijay’s increasing involvement in political discussions and his growing fan base, which could potentially translate into a significant voter base. The 2026 elections could mark a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape with Vijay’s entry
