In a recent meeting with party officials, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin urged district secretaries to be more transparent and vocal about their concerns. He highlighted the importance of open communication within the party, drawing a comparison to the era of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, where district secretaries were known for expressing their views openly.“Many of you come to me privately, voicing your complaints and frustrations. But when you’re invited to speak here, you choose to remain silent. Is this approach really beneficial for you?” Stalin questioned. He emphasized that during Karunanidhi’s time, district secretaries would openly share their thoughts, and the party leadership would consider their opinions in guiding the party’s direction.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Stalin mentioned that complaints had been received about Nagapattinam District Secretary Kauthaman, alleging that he had not been effectively coordinating with party officials. In response, Kauthaman stated, “You can investigate this matter. I will ensure that such complaints do not arise in the future.”
Stalin also addressed broader concerns within the party, noting that there have been allegations against several district secretaries and other party officials. He assured that a proper inquiry would be conducted into these complaints. “The district secretary is someone who guides others with care, and the candidate is the one who achieves victory,” Stalin remarked.
He further warned that any substantiated allegations against representatives in local bodies would lead to strict action. “If accusations against any councilors are proven with evidence, immediate action, including the removal from office, will be taken,” he said. Stalin pointed out that two mayors had already been replaced following similar complaints.
Party insiders have suggested that this meeting reflects Stalin’s commitment to ensuring accountability and maintaining discipline within the party ranks as they navigate the challenges ahead.
