BJP national executive council special invitee, Kushboo Sundar, has called for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over recent rape-murder cases that have shocked the nation.Speaking to reporters at Kamalalayam, the Tamil Nadu BJP headquarters, on Friday, Kushboo questioned the leadership in both states, particularly criticizing Mamata Banerjee for the rising incidents of violence against women in West Bengal.
“Mamata Banerjee is the only woman chief minister in India. She must provide all the necessary assistance for women and give priority to their safety, but she does not take any action to protect her people. It is very sad. I don’t know how Mamata is able to sleep when she sees something like this after Nirbhaya,” Kushboo remarked, referencing the brutal 2012 Delhi gang rape case.
She further questioned whether Banerjee should continue in her role as chief minister given the recent events. “Looking at the issue that has been going on for the past one week, should Mamata Banerjee continue as chief minister? I would just ask if there is merit to it. She should resign immediately,” she stated.
Kushboo also demanded the resignation of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, holding him responsible for the rape and murder of a nurse at a private hospital in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand. She argued that Dhami, like Banerjee, should step down in the face of such a grave incident.
The BJP leader didn’t stop at targeting the two chief ministers. She also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for their silence on the West Bengal rape-murder case. “CM Stalin did not say a single word over the West Bengal rape-murder case. Rahul Gandhi is also busy sleeping in the Parliament and not saying a word. After CBI takes over the case, they are covering up the issue,” she charged.
Kushboo questioned why Congress leaders, including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, have not taken a stand against the Trinamool Congress government’s handling of the situation in West Bengal. “Where is Priyanka Gandhi? They should sit in the roads of Kolkata against the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) party’s rule,” she added.
BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan was also present during the interaction with the press.
