K Annamalai, the State BJP President, has launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government for its handling of the eviction of tribals from the Hogenakkal forest area. Annamalai vehemently criticized the government for what he described as the unjust eviction of tribal communities without providing them with alternative housing facilities.
In a strongly worded statement, Annamalai condemned the actions of the DMK government, accusing them of abusing their power to forcefully evict tribals from their ancestral lands. He emphasized that forests are the natural habitat of tribal communities and should be preserved for their use.
Expressing outrage over videos depicting the forcible eviction of tribals by Tamil Nadu forest department personnel in the Pennagaram-Hogenakkal forest area of Dharmapuri district, Annamalai denounced the actions of the state forest department. He highlighted the distressing scenes captured in the videos, including the destruction of tribal belongings, tearing down of roofs, and the forceful eviction of women and children.
Annamalai further criticized the DMK government for what he perceives as selective enforcement of power, alleging that they turn a blind eye to corruption, smuggling of illicit goods, and other serious crimes while targeting marginalized communities with eviction threats.
