Popular YouTuber Savukku Shankar finds himself embroiled in legal troubles once again as he was sent to judicial remand by the Egmore Metropolitan Court until May 24, following a complaint lodged by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).

The Chennai police’s cybercrime wing presented Shankar before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate N Kothandaraj on three separate cases. The magistrate ordered judicial remand in the case filed by CMDA, accusing Shankar of forging documents related to the construction of a new bus terminus in Kilambakkam near Chennai and circulating them on social media to mislead the public.

The charges against Shankar include sections under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to forgery, using forged documents, and cheating. Additionally, complaints lodged by Veeralakshmi, founder of Thamizhaga Munnetra Padai, and a women journalist led to further legal action against Shankar. The allegations range from making derogatory statements about women police personnel to unspecified offenses under the TN Prevention of Harassment of Women Act.

Shankar’s transfer from Coimbatore central prison, where he was detained in another case, to Chennai for the judicial proceedings sheds light on the gravity of the situation. Moreover, his claims of torture by prison authorities prompted the Coimbatore judicial magistrate to direct the State government to provide him with medical assistance.
