The Delhi Police has taken a serious note of an alleged threat made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Tamil Nadu Minister TM Anbarasan during a public function. On Wednesday, an FIR was registered against Anbarasan, who serves as the Minister for Rural Industries in Tamil Nadu, based on a complaint filed by Supreme Court lawyer Satya Ranjan Swain. The FIR, filed at the Parliament Street police station, includes charges under five sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC): 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 268 (public nuisance), 503 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The complaint alleges that Anbarasan, a prominent political figure belonging to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and a member of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet, made a speech at a procession wherein he openly threatened to harm the Prime Minister of India. The complainant, Satya Ranjan Swain, expressed grave concern over Anbarasan’s statement, emphasizing that it poses a significant risk to the safety and security of the Prime Minister. The complaint also condemns the remark as alarming, shameful, and deliberately intended to incite violence and disrupt the peace and stability of the nation. Anbarasan’s purported threat came in response to Prime Minister Modi’s statement regarding the eradication of the DMK. @@@@
