BJP leader calls for change in Tamilnadu NT Bureau Chennai, Feb 16: In a scathing critique of the two prominent Dravidian parties, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President K. Annamalai declared Tamil Nadu as the most indebted state in India. Addressing a gathering during his 96th day of ‘En Mann En Makkal’ (My Land, My People) yatra in Peravallur, Kolathur Assembly constituency, Annamalai unleashed a tirade against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its Chief Minister, MK Stalin. Annamalai asserted that despite significant funding from the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, Tamil Nadu failed to adequately address the needs of its citizens. He criticized the DMK government’s response to Cyclone Michaung, highlighting its provision of only Rs 6,000 per family card, including the Centre’s share of about 75 percent. The BJP leader lamented the lack of basic amenities in areas like Kolathur, even though it is represented by the Chief Minister himself. He painted a grim picture of Chennai’s infrastructure, citing issues such as potholed roads, inadequate public transportation, and poor waste management. Asserting the need for change, Annamalai called for Prime Minister Modi to take charge of metropolitan cities like Chennai to uplift their standards. He appealed to the people to vote for Modi, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to honest politics and effective governance. Drawing a contrast with former leaders like K. Kamaraj and M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), whom he portrayed as champions of the common man, Annamalai criticized his former allies, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Congress, accusing them of corruption and inefficiency.
