While addressing reporters, Alagiri also commended the state government’s effective handling of the recent flood situation, emphasizing that the entire government machinery was on the ground, providing assistance during the crisis.
Alagiri acknowledged the severity of the situation, pointing out the continuous rainfall for more than 17 hours, characterized as a cloudburst by the IMD report. He emphasized that this was a natural disaster and should not be politicized, cautioning against turning a tragic event into a political issue.
Highlighting the opposition’s tendency to criticize even commendable efforts, Alagiri stated that propaganda is inevitable, and it’s crucial not to let it overshadow the genuine good work done by the government. He urged patience until the audit report sheds light on the Rs 4,000 crore expenditure for flood prevention works, discouraging premature criticism.
In response to questions about Congress preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Alagiri asserted that the party has initiated the formation of booth committees in each segment. He expressed confidence in the strength and unity of the INDIA bloc within the Congress, predicting a bright performance in the upcoming elections.
