Chennai, Dec ,12: TN EOW-CID’s Bid to Extradite Aarudhra Gold Trading Company’s MD from UAE.
In a significant development, the Tamil Nadu Economic Offences Wing-Criminal Investigation Department (EOW-CID) is actively working on extraditing Rajasekar, the Managing Director of Aarudhra Gold Trading Company, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The arrest, carried out by Interpol in Abu Dhabi, follows a red corner notice issued by the TN police against Rajasekar, who is accused of orchestrating a massive financial fraud amounting to Rs 2,438 crores.
The Aarudhra Gold Trading Company is at the center of a major financial scandal, where unsuspecting investors were allegedly cheated out of significant sums of money. The TN EOW-CID initiated an investigation over 28 months ago, registering a case against 59 suspects linked to the fraudulent activities targeting more than one lakh investors.
The arrest of Rajasekar in Abu Dhabi, facilitated by Interpol, underscores the global cooperation in combating transnational crimes. The red corner notice issued by the TN police played a pivotal role in the apprehension of the Managing Director, highlighting the effectiveness of international law enforcement collaboration.
With Rajasekar in custody in the UAE, the TN EOW-CID is strategizing to bring him back to India to face the charges filed against him. Investigators are banking on the extradition treaty between India and the UAE, a legal framework that provides the necessary grounds for the process. A dedicated team is set to be dispatched to the Gulf country to coordinate with local authorities and ensure a smooth extradition process.
