A security guard at Ramanathapuram Ramanatha Swamy temple chose to end his life last evening.
His relatives allege that he was tortured by a senior official in the place of worship. Apparently dejected at the way he was treated by the officials, he chose to commit suicide, said his relatives.
They staged a demonstration in front of the temple seeking police action against the officials. Police pacified them and assured them of thorough investigation.
