Tamilnadu bags best performing State award

Chennai: Tamilnadu received the Swasth Bharat Yatra award under ‘The Best Performing State’ category at an event organised in New Delhi, Tuesday.

In order to promote healthy living by consuming nutritious food, Swasth Bharat Yatra was organised by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare C Vijayabaskar received the award from Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey.

A press release stated, “Madurai and Sivakasi were recognised as the best performing cities apart from winning the State award.”

The Swasth Bharat Yatra was kickstarted commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the team spread the message “Eat healthy, eat safe and eat fortified to prevent non-communicable diseases and micronutrient deficiencies.”

On 16 October, the World Food Day cycle rally was flagged off from six different locations including Tamilnadu and the team reached New Delhi 27 January by cycling across several districts.
