Rajinikanth gave fans an exciting update on his upcoming film Thalaivar 173 during a meet-and-greet outside his Chennai residence on Pongal.The veteran actor revealed that the project, directed by Cibi Chakravarthy and produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, is set to go on floors in April. Rajinikanth also described the film as a commercial entertainer.
Music composer Anirudh Ravichander will reunite with Rajinikanth for this next collaboration, which is aimed for release during the Pongal 2027 season. The film marks Cibi’s second directorial venture following his successful debut with Don.
Though details about the plot and full cast are still awaited, there is buzz that Thalaivar 173 may draw inspiration from the English film The Outfit (2022). It remains unclear if Kamal Haasan will also share screen space with Rajinikanth in the film.
