A crucial meeting of Tamilnadu Congress leaders to finalise discussions on alliance formations and seat‑sharing arrangements ahead of upcoming elections will be held in New Delhi tomorrow.

AICC president Malikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are expected to take part in the deliberations.

The development comes amid ongoing talks among opposition parties to strengthen a united front in the state.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Manickam Thakur and Jothimani, have openly demanded greater power-sharing in Tamil Nadu, highlighting internal calls for a stronger role in any coalition arrangement.

Reports suggest that Rahul Gandhi has extended support to TVK leader Vijay on the controversial ‘Jana Nayagan’ film issue, signalling Delhi’s interest in the evolving political dynamics of the state.
Meanwhile, Praveen Chakravarthy reportedly met with Vijay, fueling speculations that the Congress could walk out of its existing alliance with DMK and possibly join hands with TVK, reshaping the electoral equation in Tamil Nadu.

These developments underscore the high-stakes negotiations underway as the party seeks to balance regional aspirations with national strategic interests.

The TNCC meeting will focus on evaluating potential coalition partners, negotiating electoral seat allocations, and drawing up strategic plans to maximise the party’s prospects in the polls.

Discussions are also expected to cover candidate selection, regional equations, and coordinated campaigning frameworks across constituencies.

Observers note that the outcome of the Congress deliberations could significantly influence opposition alliances in Tamil Nadu, potentially altering the state’s political landscape ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
