Gaza, Jan 14: At least four people were killed in Gaza when walls collapsed onto their tents during strong overnight winds, according to hospital authorities.
Three victims, a 72-year-old man, his daughter-in-law, and his 15-year-old granddaughter, died in a coastal area of Gaza City, while another woman died in the western part of the city.
Most Gazans live in makeshift tents after their homes were destroyed during Israel’s 2023 war, leaving them highly vulnerable to winter storms and harsh weather.
Aid shortages and restrictions on shelter materials have worsened conditions, and rescue workers warn against taking shelter in damaged buildings.
So far this winter, at least six children have died of hypothermia, underscoring the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the territory.
