The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) has issued a clarification amid widespread speculation over its political alignment ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.Responding to recent media reports suggesting hesitation or confusion regarding a potential alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the party emphasized that decisions will be made in the best interests of Tamil Nadu and the party’s future.
In an official statement, the AMMK leadership said that at its party committee meeting on January 5 in Thanjavur, it was clearly conveyed that any alliance decision would prioritise the welfare of the state and the party. The message was widely shared across media and social platforms.
The party also dismissed false claims circulating in some media outlets alleging internal hesitation, confusion, or pressure over alliance talks. It clarified that the AMMK’s general secretary had not participated in recent events due to personal commitments and the Pongal festival holidays, not due to any political uncertainty.
AMMK leaders reaffirmed that there is no hesitation, confusion or pressure within the party regarding alliances and that its general secretary will announce the party’s stance at the appropriate time.
The clarification comes amid broader political manoeuvring in Tamil Nadu, where alliances between major parties like AIADMK and the BJP continue to evolve ahead of the polls.
