President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday approved the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025, the Rural Development Ministry announced.The Bill was recently passed by Parliament amid opposition protests.
It aims to replace the existing MGNREGA programme. Under the new law, the government will guarantee 125 days of wage employment to every rural household each financial year. Officials say the scheme is designed to create a stronger rural development system that supports the national goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
The government says the mission will focus on improving livelihoods, boosting job opportunities, and strengthening village-level development across the country.
