Former Union Minister P. Chidambaram has said that the National Herald case against Congress leaders was fabricated and politically motivated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He made these comments while talking to reporters in Chennai.Chidambaram argued that no proper FIR (First Information Report) was filed before the ED began the case, which he calls illegal. He said ordinary money transfers, like those made every day, are not crimes, and criticised the way the case was started.
He also said that removing names tied to leaders like Mahatma Gandhi from the issue feels like a symbolic attack on history. Chidambaram repeated that he believes the case was made up for political reasons and not based on real evidence.
