Chief Minister MK Stalin presented the annual Child Welfare Service Awards to outstanding institutions and District Child Protection Units (DCPUs) for their exemplary work in protecting children’s rights and welfare. The event, held in Chennai, recognized efforts in social welfare and women’s empowerment, aligning with the state government’s focus on vulnerable children. The awards spanned four key categories: government children’s homes, non-profit children’s homes, reform homes for children, and DCPUs . Notable recipients included Annai Sathya Ammaiyar Memorial Government Children’s Home in Thanjavur, St. Marianne’s Home in Thoothukudi, and Government Foresight Home in Chennai, each receiving a cheque of Rs 1 lakh. These honors, announced during the budget session by Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment P Geetha Jeevan, aim to encourage broader societal involvement. The Directorate of Child Welfare and Special Services under the Social Welfare department selected winners to inspire civil societies and stakeholders. A department official emphasized that appreciating such contributions motivates others to support children in need, fostering a stronger child protection network across Tamil Nadu. @@@@
