Taut ThrillerIravin Vizhigal arrives as a gripping commentary on the darker side of social-media fame. Set in a world where influencers chase virality at any cost, the film investigates the mysterious murder of a content creator—unfolding a layered thriller that asks not just who did it, but why we are constantly driven by online validation. The title, meaning “Eyes of the Night,” serves as a fitting symbol for the secrets lurking behind curated personas.
Mahendran makes an impressive debut as Karna, portraying a grounded and believable protagonist. Neema Ray complements him with charm and emotional nuance, adding warmth to the narrative. Director Sikkal Rajesh not only helms the film but also takes on a formidable antagonist role, channeling an intensity reminiscent of SJ Suryah that elevates several key confrontations. Seasoned performers like Nizhalgal Ravi, Sisir Manohar, and Cheran Raj provide solid support, strengthening the emotional and dramatic stakes.
Technically, the film achieves a lot with minimal resources. AM Asar’s music—especially the soulful track “Karuppu…”—enhances the emotional undercurrent without overwhelming the scenes. Cinematographer Bhaskar brings a clean aesthetic with well-lit night sequences, fitting the theme perfectly. Editor R. Ram ensures the pacing remains tight, keeping the mystery alive throughout.
Rajesh’s writing shines in the way he balances a suspense thriller with a relevant social message, spotlighting the perils of reckless online behaviour. The sibling-bond-driven climax adds a heartfelt surprise, making the message land with sincerity.
While the film’s limited budget occasionally shows in its presentation, Iravin Vizhigal succeeds where it matters most—story, performances, and relevance. It’s a timely watch that resonates strongly with today’s digital generation.
