A large human chain was organised in front of the historic Ripon Building on Wednesday to raise public awareness about the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu. Participants emphasised the importance of accurate voter lists and encouraged citizens to verify and update their details during the revision process.

The event saw the participation of volunteers, civic activists, and representatives from various organisations who joined hands to highlight the need for transparency and active public involvement in the voter correction exercise. Holding placards and banners, they urged people to make use of the SIR period to rectify errors, add missing names, and ensure clean and error-free electoral rolls ahead of upcoming elections.

Organisers said the human chain was aimed at educating citizens about the significance of the SIR process, especially at a time when concerns have been raised about irregularities, public awareness gaps, and political interference. They stressed that voter list accuracy is essential to protect democratic rights and to ensure free and fair elections.

Participants also distributed pamphlets explaining the steps for verification, including online correction options, booth-level officer contacts, and required documentation. They called on the public to remain vigilant, participate proactively, and ensure that every eligible voter in their household is properly enrolled.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to support a transparent revision process and to promote widespread awareness on the importance of accurate electoral rolls for a healthy democratic system.
